Funding opportunities

External funding is highly desirable, we encourage candidates to explore the possibilities available. Research is largely project-based. When possible, we will offer specific PhD positions targeted at specific projects, but this will not always be possible.

As part of our commitment to supporting your academic journey, we offer the opportunity to explore different options and support your application to various programmes. In Spain, the most common one is the FPU grant provided by the Spanish Ministry of Science. The call usually opens at the beginning of each year.

Postdoctoral positions

The Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation (MICINN) publishes several annual calls for 5-year and 2-year fellowships, to be held at universities and public research institutions in Spain. The 5-year fellowships are funded by the Ramon y Cajal Programme. The 2-year fellowship is funded by the Juan de la Cierva Formacion Programme.

U-CHASS will endorse outstanding candidates. For the candidates applying for the Juan de la Cierva programme (2 years), it is necessary that candidates contact directly with U-CHASS researchers who might be potentially interested in supporting them.

The application can be fully submitted in English.

We encourage the potential candidates to contact U-CHASS researchers who may be interested to endorse their applications well ahead of the deadline, to get support and guidance through the on-line application process.
